Vertex Recognized as a Leader in Diversity and Inclusion
I’m happy to report that Vertex has again been recognized for our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion (D&I).
The National Diversity Council recently honored Vertex with its “2020 Pennsylvania disABILITY Leadership Award.” The award recognizes organizations that are leading the way in disability advocacy and inclusion efforts inside the workplace and within the communities in which they operate. The National Diversity Council also uses the award to increase awareness of diversity and inclusion best practices related to individuals with disabilities.
The Vertex Bridge Program represents one of those D&I best practices. Launched in 2019, the program supports neurodiversity in the workplace. The initiative was designed to address a significant talent-acquisition challenge while equipping professionals with autism a pathway to progress from unemployment to meaningful work and long-term career development opportunities.
Participants in this program have leveraged the experience to earn full-time positions within Vertex, on our tax processing team and in our customer onboarding group among other areas of the organization. Other graduates have accepted full-time positions from other area employers. That multi-stakeholder approach to addressing neurodiversity was evident at the annual SAP Autism at Work Symposium. This year’s virtual event featured more than 40 different companies, including Vertex, which was represented by Bridge Program participants and Craig Single—Vertex Director of Talent Acquisition, People & Culture & Human Capital—who moderated a panel discussion on sustaining and scaling existing neurodiversity programs.
