South Dakota v. Wayfair Ruling: Are you ready to comply?
Episode 1 of 6
Episode Summary
The U.S. Supreme Court ruling stands to dramatically change the landscape for online sellers when it comes to sales tax. The ruling, South Dakota v. Wayfair, was announced in June 2018 and makes it mandatory for online retailers to collect sales tax from customers in individual states, even if they do not have a physical presence in those states. The ruling also means that the states will likely now increase their efforts to collect sales tax on online sales.
Any business that sells goods remotely could be affected, which means some companies may need to invest in new technology and processes for taxes.
