As of mid-year 2020 there were 6,066 new or updated sales and use tax rates in the last 10 years, an average of 577 per year. In the first six months of 2020 alone, 140 of 150 rate changes were increases.
Tax revenue in the first half of 2020 accounts for 41% or more of the state’s revenue in Washington, Nevada, and Louisiana.
