Vertex Going Beyond the Edge at NRF’s Big Retail Show
It’s go-time.
That’s the underlying theme of the National Retail Federation’s annual conference, NRF 2022: Retail’s Big Show, taking place in New York Jan. 16-18. NRF is the world’s largest retail trade association and its annual in-person conference – which was moved online last year due to pandemic and scheduling hurdles – attracts the world’s leading retail practitioners, thinkers, consultants and software providers, including Vertex.
“When normal life was put on hold, retail never stopped,” the NRF asserts. “We kept moving, striving… To keep up in the next chapter of retail, we can’t slow down. In fact, it’s time to accelerate.”
NRF and its 18,000 retailer members want to talk shop and compare notes on all of the platforms, applications, new channels and innovative approaches they’ve made in response to the challenges and disruptions the pandemic triggered.
Since the NRF’s last big in-person event back in January 2020, the retail industry has undergone fundamental transformations, asserts Vertex Principal Architect of Innovation Eric Christian. “Think about buying online, returning to store; buying online, shipping to store; going to store, shipping to home — all of these kinds of things are being done by most retailers now,” he notes. “And their tax systems have to accommodate for that.” That need explains why Vertex is introducing a new deployment of Vertex® O Series for Edge computing. The solution allows organizations to create tax calculation containers that can be deployed anywhere in the world with a direct sync to a central O Series hub. Making use of edge computing technology, the solution performs the tax calculation on-premise or in a local data center. A veteran transaction tax technologist and innovator, Eric shares more on edge computing here.
If you’re attending NRF 2022 at the Javits Center, visit Vertex in Booth #1505. We’re eager to hear about your year, compare notes and help you take your tax technology to the leading edge.
