John Viglione of Vertex, Inc. Joins IST Advisory Board at Penn State

Berwyn, PA

Vertex Inc., the leading provider of corporate tax solutions, announced today that Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer John Viglione has joined the Advisory Board at Penn State’s College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST).

“I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to work alongside fellow industry professionals and give back to a university that had a direct impact on my career,” Viglione said. “I look forward to sharing ideas for innovation along with my knowledge and experience in the industry with students and faculty at Penn State.”

The IST Advisory Board was established in 1999 as a way to develop an education-industry partnership between Penn State and the information sciences and technology industries. Filled with members well-versed in information technology and business, the IST Advisory Board helps ensure the college’s curriculum and programs align with current and future trends in the IT and technology industries. Students and faculty connect with top-level executives who provide leadership and assist students with career development by helping to match them with internships and other real-world learning opportunities.

“Mr. Viglione is an extremely valuable addition to the IST Advisory Board,” said Andrew Sears, dean of the College of IST. “He has considerable experience in information technology and business, and his background is directly in line with the college’s mission to educate students who can meet the challenges of the 21st century information age.”

As a senior executive at Vertex, Viglione has drawn upon his two decades of experience to lead the direction of technology and architecture for all Vertex products. He plays a leading role in the company’s strategic direction and operations as a member of the Vertex Executive Council. Furthermore, Viglione has held several previous positions where he has focused on comprehensive enterprise IT initiatives for Fortune 500 companies prior to joining Vertex.

Viglione received his MBA from Penn State.
