Elevating women in tax and technology: building a stronger industry together

In the ever-changing world of tax and technology, diverse perspectives and inclusive leadership are key to meaningful progress. Elevating women in these fields isn't just about equality—it's about fostering innovation, creativity and collaboration that benefits everyone. At Vertex, we believe the best results come from a balance of viewpoints, and women's unique experiences are essential to shaping the future of tax and tech.

Women offer fresh insights that challenge the status quo, break down silos and drive more effective solutions. By increasing our presence in leadership roles, we open the door to new ideas and approaches that lead to better outcomes for businesses and society. Supporting and promoting women in tax and tech is crucial to building a more dynamic, innovative and inclusive industry.

This October, we’re hosting a Women in Tax and Technology Networking Event at Vertex Exchange, our premier tax and technology conference that connects over 700 Vertex customers and industry experts from around the world. We’ll celebrate women’s achievements in these fields while creating meaningful connections. These networking events are invaluable, especially in industries where women are often underrepresented. Relationships are the foundation of career success, and these gatherings offer a chance to grow our networks, share experiences and empower one another.

Finding a community of like-minded professionals can be transformative. Too often, we navigate challenges alone or focus on others' needs without taking time for our own development. This event provides a space for women and allies to come together, be present and share advice on overcoming common obstacles. By nurturing relationships with other women who understand our unique challenges, we expand our reach, gain confidence, and create opportunities for growth.

For those pursuing leadership roles in tax or technology, my advice is simple: be intentional in building authentic relationships. Opportunities often arise from connections you’ve nurtured over time. Seek out mentors, coaches and advocates who will support and champion you. Be genuine and vulnerable in your approach and empower others as you build your career. By supporting each other, we not only advance individually but also contribute to a stronger, more inclusive future for our industries.

Join us at the upcoming Women in Tax and Technology Event by attending Vertex Exchange to connect, learn and grow together. Let’s continue elevating one another as we pave the way for the next generation of leaders.
