A New Way to Connect with Your Sales Colleagues
Learn how our tax-tech integrations help a variety of Salesforce modules.
Technology has truly transformed sales reps’ lives in the past couple of decades. The traditional work modes – email, phone calls, and paper-based processes – haven’t disappeared, but today they’re supplemented with a host of on-screen and online tools giving instant access to customer data, whether in the office or in the field.
Sales and use tax technologies have been evolving just as rapidly. Yet, as I mentioned in a previous post, the integration of tax technology with sales management tools has been inconsistent. That changed when we released the Vertex for Salesforce CRM connector, which integrates our platform with the leading customer relationship management solution. With the connector installed, you can add modules to integrate with Salesforce’s configure-price-quote (CPQ), billing and e-commerce modules.
Here’s a sneak peek of the Vertex e-book with Salesforce and how tighter tax-tech integration helps the following Salesforce modules:
CRM
With more than 11,000 tax jurisdictions in the United States, careful management of ship-to addresses is crucial. The Vertex tax automation integration for Salesforce CRM ensures that each address is properly formatted and verified, and the tax calculation based on that data is accurate. Salespeople also can use Salesforce to create tax-enabled custom workflows.
CPQ
Quotes may change several times on the way to a final deal, and each change can impact the tax calculation. The Vertex connector with Salesforce CPQ instantly recalculates the tax for any quote update, so your salespeople don’t have to do it manually every time. It enters the data in the correct format in the CPQ module, so there are no surprises about what the tax will be.
Billing
Between the start of a transaction and the final invoice, many tax-relevant but easily overlooked changes can occur. The tax integration for Salesforce Billing provides companies with the tools to automate the entire billing process, eliminating manual input.
E-Commerce
The Salesforce Commerce Cloud integration ensures that the calculated rate is consistent across B2B and B2C channels, such as mobile, social media or online venues. It can also ensure tax accuracy when retailers take their business on the road. There’s clearly a lot of value here for tax pros in terms of reduced business risk, improved audit performance and higher accuracy.
