Since January 1, 2025, companies in Germany have been obliged to be able to receive electronic invoices in EN16931 format. This change is embedded in the European Union's ViDA initiative, which also covers e-invoicing as a B2B standard and transactional reporting from 2030. Similar developments are currently taking place globally and in other EU member states. The aim of these initiatives is to digitize sales tax and increase transparency among the tax authorities.
